Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 package zwieback, crushed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon peel, grated
  • 2 1/2 pounds cream cheese
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons orange peel, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 eggs, unbeaten
  • 2 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch spring-form pan.
  3. Combine crushed zwieback, softened butter, sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon lemon peel to make the crust.
  4. Press this mixture on the bottom and sides of the prepared pan.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Add sugar, flour, grated orange peel, vanilla, and lemon peel; mix well.
  7. Gradually add eggs and egg yolks, beating until smooth after each addition.
  8. Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 80 minutes or until set.
  10. Cool in the pan, then refrigerate before serving.
