Ingredients

  • 1 quart oysters with own liquid
  • soda crackers or saltines, crushed or crumbed
  • salt
  • pepper
  • butter

Instructions

  1. Butter a baking dish.
  2. Place a layer of crushed or crumbed soda crackers in the dish, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Add the oysters with their liquid on top of the crackers.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, and add pats of butter over the oysters.
  5. Pour 2 cups of cream over the oysters and crackers.
  6. Add another layer of crackers about 1/2 inch thick on top.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden.
