- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut off the crust of the bread.
- Butter the bread on both sides and cut each into 4 quarters.
- Place a layer of bread on the bottom of an oiled casserole.
- Layer cheese and bread alternately in the casserole.
- Mix the milk, beaten eggs, and salt well.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the casserole over the bread.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until brown.
