  • 3/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

  3. Combine Neufchatel cheese, grainy mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Add the cheese mixture and cooked bacon to the mushroom stem mixture; mix well.

  6. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using a mix of mushrooms like cremini or shiitake along with the large mushrooms. If Neufchatel cheese is unavailable, cream cheese works as a great substitute. For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the cheese mixture. Ensure the bacon is crispy for added texture and flavor in the filling.

Serving Suggestions

These stuffed mushrooms make an excellent appetizer for gatherings and pair well with a crisp green salad or a light dip. For an impressive spread, serve alongside Ham And Pickle Bites or Ham Salad(Salad Bowl Puff). Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for added color and flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover stuffed mushrooms can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, or until heated through. Avoid microwaving to preserve their texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these stuffed mushrooms ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the filling and stuff the mushrooms a day in advance. Store them in the refrigerator and bake just before serving. This makes for a convenient appetizer that can be ready in minutes when guests arrive.

What can I use instead of bacon or sausage?

If you're looking for a vegetarian option, consider using chopped sun-dried tomatoes or spinach for a burst of flavor. Alternatively, crumbled feta or a mix of toasted nuts can add a savory element to the filling.

Can I freeze the stuffed mushrooms?

Yes, you can freeze unbaked stuffed mushrooms. Arrange them on a baking sheet to freeze individually, then transfer them to a freezer-safe container. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
