Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 2 cups Guinness stout
  • 3/4 lb frozen spinach
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sage
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil and garlic.
  2. Add the ground beef and brown.
  3. Add mushrooms, beef stock, and Guinness, and bring to a boil.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and return to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 1/2 hour, or until liquid has reduced by 1/4.
  6. Serve with potato dumplings or mashed potatoes.
