  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Roast pork, uncovered, on a rack in a 325°F oven for 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Mix soy sauce, wine, sesame seed, oil, sugar, red pepper flakes, and garlic in a saucepan; heat to boiling.

  4. Boil, stirring, for about 1 minute.
  5. Brush ribs with the sauce.
  6. Roast, turning and basting, until done, about 45 minutes.

Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, marinate the pork spareribs in the soy sauce and wine mixture for a few hours or overnight. If you don't have dry white wine, you can substitute with chicken broth or apple juice. Toasting the sesame seeds before adding them to the sauce enhances their nuttiness. Adjust the red pepper flakes based on your heat preference.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the sesame spareribs with steamed rice and a side of crunchy Asian slaw for a delightful meal. They pair beautifully with Pork With Green Beans And Mushrooms for a complete spread. Garnish with additional sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added texture and flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover sesame spareribs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes or until heated through, basting with extra sauce to keep them moist. Alternatively, you can microwave them for a quick option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use baby back ribs instead of spareribs?

Yes, you can absolutely use baby back ribs for this recipe. They will be slightly more tender and cook faster, so adjust the roasting time accordingly. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t dry out.

Is there a way to make this recipe spicier?

To add more heat, consider increasing the amount of red pepper flakes or incorporating a spicy sauce like Sriracha into the marinade. You can also serve the ribs with a spicy dipping sauce on the side.

Can I prepare the ribs in advance?

Yes, you can prepare the ribs a day ahead. Follow the recipe up to brushing them with sauce, then refrigerate. When ready to serve, allow them to come to room temperature before roasting, and adjust the cooking time as needed.
