Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup soft shortening
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 2/3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups shell barks, cut up

Instructions

  1. Beat the shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and beat until creamy.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the milk alternately with the dry ingredients to the mixture.
  5. Stir in vanilla and the chopped shell barks.
  6. Pour batter into a prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
