Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
  2. Put the soda in the buttermilk and set aside.
  3. Bring the margarine and molasses to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the molasses to the flour mixture.
  5. Then add the buttermilk with soda.
  6. Finally, add the egg to the mixture.
  7. Pour the batter into a large skillet.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.
