Ingredients

  • 28 large or 48 small shrimp
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • hot sauce to taste
  • 1 Tbsp dry parsley
  • 1 pkg Goya Spanish spice
  • 1/4 cup beer
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp margarine
  • 1/2 tsp garlic

Instructions

  1. Put the olive oil, margarine, and garlic in a frying pan and heat.
  2. Add the shrimp to the frying pan and cook until they change color.
  3. Add salt, hot sauce, parsley, and 1/4 cup of beer to the pan.
  4. Let it cook for 3 minutes, then add the Goya spice, mix well, and serve.

Tips & Substitutions

For a spicier kick, consider adding more hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper. If you don't have Goya Spanish spice, a mix of paprika, cumin, and oregano can be a good substitute. Fresh garlic can enhance the flavor, but you can also use garlic powder if needed. Make sure not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Shrimp Mozambique Style over a bed of rice to soak up the delicious sauce. It pairs beautifully with Bayou Shrimp And Rice (Louisiana Cajun Recipe) for a complete meal. Add a side of sautéed vegetables or a fresh salad to balance the flavors. A cold beer or a light white wine complements this dish well.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, gently warm the shrimp in a skillet over low heat to avoid overcooking. You can also microwave them for about 30 seconds, but be cautious as shrimp can become rubbery if overheated.
