Ingredients

  • 400 grams Ground beef or mixed ground meat
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Carrot
  • 2 tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 5 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Cooking sake (as needed)
  • 1 can Canned diced tomatoes
  • 2 Bay leaf
  • 1 blend of Ketchup and Japanese Worcestershire-style sauce (2:1 ratio)
  • 1 Soup stock cube
  • 1 dash Black pepper
  • 1 heaped teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 heaped teaspoon Plain flour
  • 1 dash Salt

Instructions

  1. Add the olive oil and garlic to a pot and cook on low heat.
  2. Once the garlic becomes aromatic add the minced onion and carrot and cook.
  3. Once the onions become transparent add the ground meat and cooking sake.
  4. Once the meat changes color sprinkle in the flour evenly, mixing quickly to avoid clumping.
  5. Add the canned tomatoes, bay leaf, and soup stock and simmer.
  6. Add the ketchup and Worcestershire-style sauce while checking the taste.
  7. (I add about 10 squirts of ketchup and 5 of the Worcestershire-style sauce.)
  8. Once you've got the flavor you want adjust with black pepper, salt, and sugar, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove the bay leaf.
  10. If you're going to freeze it, freeze it as-is.
  11. Add powdered cheese right before serving for a rich flavor.
