Soft, buttery snickerdoodles dusted with cinnamon sugar, a classic treat for any sweet tooth, perfect for family gatherings or cozy afternoons.

Instructions
- Cream butter and 1 ½ cups sugar together.
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
- Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; fold into creamed mixture and chill dough.
- Roll dough into walnut‑size balls.
- Coat each ball in a mixture of 2 Tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon.
- Place balls on an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Optional: decorate with bits of candied cherries.
- Bake at 400°F for about 8 minutes until lightly golden.
