Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups oats
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon.
  2. Cream the shortening, then add sugar and egg until well combined.
  3. Gradually stir in half of the dry ingredients, then add the buttermilk, followed by the remaining dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in the oats and raisins.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes until golden brown.
