Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed chicken gumbo, pepper pot or vegetable soup
  • 6 buns, split and toasted

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in shortening; stir to separate meat particles.
  2. Add ketchup, prepared mustard, pepper, and the canned soup to the skillet.
  3. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes to blend flavors, stirring often.
  4. Serve the hot mixture on toasted split buns.
