- Cream together the oleo or butter and sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
- Mix in pumpkin and water until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually stir dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture, mixing until batter is well blended.
- Stir in chopped maraschino cherries and chopped walnuts.
- Grease and flour 2 loaf pans, then pour batter into them.
- Bake at 350°F for 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 15 minutes before removing from pans.
