Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 7/8 cup sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Shred the cabbage and slice the onion thinly.
  2. Layer the cabbage and onion in a bowl and sprinkle the sugar on top.
  3. Heat the oil, vinegar, mustard, celery seed, and salt until boiling.
  4. Pour the hot mixture over the cabbage and onion layers.
  5. Cover and let stand for 4 to 6 hours, then mix and serve.
