Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier filling, consider adding a bit of grated Parmesan to the Ricotta mixture. If you don't have spinach, kale or Swiss chard can be great substitutes. Make sure to fully drain the spinach to avoid excess moisture in the lasagna. You can also use no-boil lasagna noodles if you prefer. This dish can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the spinach lasagna with a side salad dressed in vinaigrette for a refreshing contrast. Garlic bread or a simple Italian bread pairs beautifully with this dish. For an even heartier meal, consider serving it alongside Cheese Filled Shells or a light soup. This lasagna is perfect for family gatherings or meal prep as it reheats well.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover spinach lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, cover the dish with foil and warm in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-30 minutes or until heated through. You can also microwave individual portions for quicker reheating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh spinach instead of frozen?

Yes, you can use fresh spinach in this recipe. You'll need about 1 lb of fresh spinach. Sauté it briefly in olive oil until wilted, then drain and chop before mixing it into the Ricotta filling. This will add a fresh flavor to your lasagna.

Can I make this lasagna gluten-free?

Absolutely! Substitute the uncooked lasagna noodles with gluten-free lasagna sheets. Many brands offer gluten-free options that work well in this recipe. Just ensure to follow the package instructions for cooking times, as they may differ from traditional noodles.

How do I know when the lasagna is done cooking?

The lasagna is done when the noodles are tender and the cheese on top is bubbly and slightly browned. You can check by inserting a knife into the center; if it goes through easily, it's ready. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving to help it set.
