Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda *
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp. mace
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 c. cut-up raisins
  • 2 c. currants
  • 3/4 c. finely cut-up citron
  • 1/3 c. orange peel
  • 1/3 c. lemon peel
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 2 c. (1/2 lb.) ground suet (I use Crisco)
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 c. currant jelly
  • 1/4 c. fruit juice
  • 1/2 c. muscat raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. *If using self-rising flour, decrease soda to 1/2 teaspoon.
