Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Instructions

  1. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting.
  2. Blend flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and spices.
  3. Cream shortening and sugar.
  4. Add eggs; beat well.
  5. Add flour mixture alternately with sour milk and pumpkin.
  6. Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart mold.
  7. Steam for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  8. Cool a few minutes; loosen from sides of the mold.
  9. Remove from mold and serve warm.
