Stephen'S Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 8 cups bread (stale)
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 2/3 cups warm milk
  • 1 cup saltana raisins
  • 2 1.4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Sauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup or less butter
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. mix all ingredients except bread. Place bread in an oven proof pan 10 x 14 x 3. Pour ingredients over and bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 75 minutes or until brown and puffy. (can be made two days ahead)
  2. mix 3 eggs, icing sugar heavy cream 1/4 cup butter (or less), orange juice, and
  3. brandy. Pour over bread pudding and bake 15 20 minutes. Let stand 15 min. and serve.
