- Stuff the heart lightly with the bread mixture and cover the opening with foil; tie it in place.
- Place the stuffed heart in a Dutch oven.
- Cover the heart with canned tomatoes and add the remaining ingredients including black peppercorns, bay leaf, beef broth, and water.
- Cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
