- Saute the hamburger, onion, and garlic until the onions are soft and clear.
- Mix the beef mixture, rice, tomato sauce, basil, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
- Remove the tops, pulp, and seeds from the green peppers.
- Fill each pepper with a quarter of the mixture.
- Pour an additional 8 ounces of tomato sauce over the peppers before cooking.
- Place the filled peppers in an 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap.
- Microwave on high for 10 to 15 minutes or until the peppers are tender and the rice is rehydrated.
- Top with cheese during the last minute of cooking.
- Let stand for 3 minutes before serving.
