Ingredients

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 4 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 cup chopped scallions
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups light cream

Instructions

  1. Place a layer of sliced hard-boiled eggs in a buttered casserole.
  2. Season with salt and pepper; sprinkle with bread crumbs.
  3. Cover with a layer of sliced tomatoes; sprinkle with basil, salt, pepper, chopped scallions, and chopped parsley.
  4. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used.
  5. In a bowl, combine beaten eggs, light cream, salt, and nutmeg to make the custard mixture.
  6. Pour the custard over the layered ingredients in the casserole.
  7. Place the casserole in a pan of water to create a water bath.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes or until the custard is firm.
