Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups cooking apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco oil
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Stir the peeled and chopped apples, sugar, and oil together and let stand for one hour.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; pour over the apple mixture.
  3. Stir in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured Bundt pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for one hour or until a pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
