Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb chopped dates
  • 1/2 lb coarsely chopped nuts
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup sifted plain flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs.
  2. Add sugar and beat until smooth.
  3. Mix in flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Stir in chopped dates, nuts, and vanilla.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased small loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 275°F (135°C) for about 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Cool completely before turning out.
