Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/2 large yellow onion
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large can baked beans (1 lb. 12 oz.)
  • 1 large can solid pack tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 heaping tsp granulated sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut bacon into strips and cook with the chopped onion in a large kettle until the bacon is barely cooked and not browned to crisp.
  2. Add ground beef and brown it in the same kettle.
  3. Drain excess fat from the mixture.
  4. Add baked beans, solid pack tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and sugar to the kettle.
  5. Stir the ingredients gently to combine.
  6. Cover the kettle and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  7. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
