- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Mix the margarine and anise flavoring into the dry ingredients until well incorporated.
- Add the eggs and mix thoroughly to form a dough.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Take a small piece of dough (about 2 tablespoons) and roll it with the palm of your hand to form a long, pencil-shaped string.
- Take an end of the string and make a loose, single knot.
- Break the knot off the string.
- Place the knots about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until the bottom of the cookies is light brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
