Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 3/4 c. Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. basil

Instructions

  1. Cut the cabbage into 6 slices and cook for 10 minutes or until tender but crisp.
  2. Pour the cooked cabbage into a buttered 2-quart dish.
  3. Sauté sliced onion, green pepper, sugar, and butter until vegetables are tender.
  4. Add canned tomatoes, salt, and pepper to the sautéed vegetables and cook briefly.
  5. Pour the tomato mixture over the cabbage in the dish and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake at 350°F until heated through and cheese is melted.
  7. Optional: cut hot dogs and place on top before serving.
