Texas Style Lasagna
A hearty Texan-inspired lasagna layered with seasoned beef, melted Monterey Jack cheese, and creamy cottage cheese, perfect for family dinners and comfort food lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef ⓘ
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt ⓘ
- 1 pkg. (1 1/4 oz.) taco seasoning mix ⓘ
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz.) diced tomatoes ⓘ
- 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce ⓘ
- 1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chilies ⓘ
- 2 c. (16 oz.) small curd cottage cheese
- 2 eggs ⓘ
- 12 flour tortillas ⓘ
- 3 1/3 to 4 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese ⓘ
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef; drain excess fat.
- Add seasoned salt, taco seasoning mix, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chopped green chilies; mix well.
- Simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Combine cottage cheese and beaten eggs in a bowl.
- In a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish, layer half of the meat sauce, half of the torn tortillas, half of the cottage cheese mixture, and half of the shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
