Ingredients

  • 9 large baking potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), room temperature
  • 12 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the diced potatoes in a large saucepan and add water to cover.
  2. Heat to boiling and then reduce heat to simmer until tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes.
  4. Transfer the potatoes to a mixer bowl.
  5. Cut the butter and cream cheese into small pieces and add to the potatoes.
  6. Beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  7. Beat in the sour cream.
  8. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve immediately or reheat in a buttered casserole at 300°F for 20 minutes if prepared in advance.
