Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. seasoned flour
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can tomato soup
  • 1 can water
  • 6 small whole onions
  • 6 carrots
  • 4 potatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme

Instructions

  1. Shake beef cubes with seasoned flour in a plastic bag.
  2. Brown the meat in shortening in a Dutch oven or stew pot.
  3. Add tomato soup and water; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Add small whole onions, carrots, potatoes, and thyme.
  5. Cover and cook for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
  6. Stir occasionally to thicken the stew.
  7. Uncover and cook until desired consistency is reached.
