Tomato Chili

Ingredients

  • 1/2 dishpan tomatoes
  • 3 hot peppers
  • 3 medium onions
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 4 c vinegar
  • 4 c sugar
  • 1 tsp whole allspice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric

Instructions

  1. Place 1 cloth bag inside a large pot for spices.
  2. Chop the tomatoes and onions.
  3. Add tomatoes, onions, hot peppers, salt, vinegar, sugar, allspice, nutmeg, clove, ginger, and turmeric into the pot.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  7. Remove the cloth bag containing the whole spices.
  8. Pour the chili into sterilized jars or bottles and seal.
