Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 2 cups light corn syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans Eagle Brand milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy pan, melt butter over low heat on top of the stove. Add corn syrup and sugar.
  2. Boil for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Add 1 1/2 cans of Eagle Brand milk.
  4. Mix remaining Eagle Brand milk with flour thoroughly, then add to the corn syrup-sugar mixture.
  5. Boil until mixture darkens and forms a medium-hard ball (240°).
  6. Stir constantly to prevent sticking and burning.
  7. Add vanilla and pour into a buttered 2 x 13 x 2-inch pan. Chill until set.
  8. Cut into 1-inch pieces and wrap in wax paper.
  9. Great for Christmas giving.
