Tips & Substitutions

For a twist, try using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option. You can also substitute the cheese with a dairy-free alternative if you're looking for a vegan-friendly version. Fresh cilantro or jalapeños can add an extra kick. Be sure to keep an eye on the baking time; the tortillas can burn quickly at such a high temperature.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these turnovers with a side of guacamole or a fresh green salad to balance the flavors. They also pair wonderfully with sour cream and extra salsa for dipping. For a complete meal, consider serving alongside Mexican rice or beans, reminiscent of other delicious Mexican recipes like Cheezy Tortilla Casserole.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover turnovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or until heated through, ensuring the tortilla stays crispy. Alternatively, use a microwave, but be aware that the texture may become softer.
