Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.
  2. Beat eggs and sugar until well combined.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl.
  4. Add water to the egg and sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until smooth.
  6. Butter a baking pan thoroughly.
  7. Sprinkle part of the cinnamon and sugar mixture evenly on the bottom of the prepared pan.
  8. Arrange the sliced apples over the sugar mixture in the pan.
  9. Spread the remaining sugar and cinnamon mixture over the apples.
  10. Pour the batter over the apples in the pan.
  11. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes.
  12. Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before turning the cake upside down onto a serving plate.
