Vernell's Fried Chicken features crispy, golden-brown chicken seasoned with Old Bay and black pepper, perfect for comfort food lovers and those craving flavorful, crunchy fried poultry.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lb. chicken
  • 2 c. cooking oil
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. Old Bay seasoning
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash chicken and pat dry.
  2. Mix flour and Old Bay seasoning in a paper bag.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet.
  4. Combine water and beaten egg in a mixing bowl.
  5. Dip chicken pieces in the egg mixture, then in the flour mixture (a few pieces at a time).
  6. Fry over medium heat until golden brown, about 20 minutes on each side.
