Ingredients

  • 5 cups sliced apples
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Toss sliced apples in lemon juice and water in a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, nutmeg, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Cut in softened butter using a food processor until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Mix in chopped nuts (walnuts).
  5. Crumble the mixture over the apples to cover evenly.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is light brown.
