Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in bananas and milk.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Stir in chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 65 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
