Ingredients

  • 2 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 c. grated onion
  • 1 c. grated Irish potatoes
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. Pet or Carnation milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: cornmeal, flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Add grated onion and Irish potatoes to the dry mixture.
  3. Pour in the milk and mix well until the batter is combined.
  4. Drop large spoonfuls of the batter into very hot grease.
  5. Brown the bread on all sides and serve hot.
