Ingredients

  • 1 can consomme
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 to 3/4 stick margarine, melted
  • 4 to 6 pork chops or chicken pieces

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together and pour over meat.
  2. If using pork chops: brown chops and place in a baking dish. Pour rice mixture over chops and bake covered for 1 hour at 350°F.
  3. If using chicken: place chicken pieces in a baking dish and pour rice mixture over chicken. Cover and bake for 1 hour at 350°F.
  4. Can use chicken broth instead of consomme.
  5. Dirty Rice can be baked without meat and used as a side dish if desired.
