Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb butter or margarine or 8 Tbsp Crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour, mixing just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into an 8-inch round cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before removing from the pan and serving.
