  • 1/2 tsp. soy sauce

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the meat in soy sauce and a little garlic before cooking. If you don't have bouillon cubes, use broth instead for added depth. Feel free to substitute vegetables based on what's available, such as peas or corn. For a vegetarian version, try tofu or tempeh instead of meat and use vegetable bouillon.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Yuki's Fried Rice hot, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor. It pairs beautifully with Egg Drop Soup (Aka Bird Drop Soup) for a complete meal. For a more substantial dinner, consider serving it alongside grilled vegetables or a simple salad. This dish is also great as a side to any Asian-inspired main course.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, use a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or oil to prevent sticking. Stir frequently until heated through. This fried rice can also be reheated in the microwave, but be sure to cover it to retain moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen vegetables in this fried rice?

Yes, frozen vegetables can be a convenient substitute. Just make sure to thaw and drain them before adding to the pan to avoid excess moisture. Stir-fry them for a minute or two to ensure they are heated through and well incorporated into the dish.

What type of rice is best for fried rice?

Day-old cooked rice is ideal for fried rice as it is firmer and less sticky, allowing for better frying. If you don’t have day-old rice, you can cook rice and spread it on a baking sheet to cool it quickly before using it in the recipe.

Can I make this dish vegetarian?

Absolutely! To make a vegetarian version of Yuki's Fried Rice, simply replace the meat with tofu or tempeh and use vegetable bouillon instead of chicken or beef. You can also add a variety of vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas to enhance the dish.
