Tips & Substitutions

For a great stir-fry, ensure all ingredients are prepped and ready to go before you start cooking, as the process is quick. You can substitute the meat with tofu for a vegetarian option or use different vegetables based on what's in season. Adding a pinch of red pepper flakes can give it an extra kick, while pairing with steamed rice makes it a complete meal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen vegetables for this stir-fry?

Yes, you can use frozen vegetables, but be aware that they may release more moisture during cooking. It's best to stir-fry them until just heated through to maintain their texture. Fresh vegetables, however, will provide a better crunch and flavor.

What can I substitute for peanut oil?

If you don't have peanut oil, you can use vegetable oil or canola oil as a substitute. These oils have a high smoke point and neutral flavor, making them suitable for stir-frying. For a nuttier flavor, try sesame oil, but use it sparingly as it has a stronger taste.

How can I make this dish spicier?

To add heat, consider incorporating sliced fresh chili peppers or a dash of sriracha sauce into the stir-fry. You can also increase the amount of red pepper flakes in the sauce mixture. Adjust the spice according to your preference to enjoy a more vibrant flavor.
