Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces chopped dates
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped nuts
  • 1 package flakes coconut

Instructions

  1. Mix the beaten egg, sugar, butter or margarine, salt, and chopped dates in a saucepan and cook, stirring frequently, until the dates are soft and the mixture is thick.
  2. Place the saucepan in iced water until the mixture is cool enough to handle.
  3. Add Rice Krispies and chopped nuts; mix quickly.
  4. Shape into balls with buttered hands.
  5. Roll the balls in shredded coconut.
