Hungarian-style zucchini dish with tangy vinegar, fresh dill, and creamy sour cream, perfect for a comforting vegetarian meal or side dish with rich flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 (6-inch) zucchini
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped dill leaves
  • 5 tablespoons bacon fat or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 small diced onion
  • 1/2 pint sour cream

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the zucchini.
  2. Cook the grated zucchini, water, vinegar, salt, paprika, and dill leaves for 10 minutes.
  3. In another pan, brown the onion and flour mixture in bacon fat or margarine.
  4. Gradually mix small amounts of the cooked zucchini mixture into the browned onion and flour until smooth.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then stir in the sour cream.
