Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. cocoa
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt oleo and Crisco in water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Pour the hot mixture into the flour and sugar, mixing well.
  4. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla; stir until combined without using electric mixer.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 12 x 8-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
