Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9 x 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, sugar, salt, flour, and baking powder.
  3. Add the egg, milk, and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and mix well until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
