- In a small saucepan, stir together skim milk, chicken broth, all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper over low heat until smooth and thickened.
- Stir the thickened milk mixture into the onion and garlic mixture.
- Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce is thick.
- Stir in grated Parmesan cheese.
- Meanwhile, cook the dry fettuccine pasta according to package instructions.
- In the last few minutes of cooking, add frozen broccoli florets to the pasta water.
- Drain pasta and broccoli, then toss with the Alfredo sauce before serving.
