Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups blanched almonds

Instructions

  1. Mix the granulated sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, oil, water, cinnamon, baking powder, and powdered cloves in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the flour and almonds to the mixture and stir until well blended.
  3. Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll each into a rope shape.
  4. Place the ropes on a greased cookie sheet and flatten them slightly.
  5. Brush the tops with the beaten egg yolk mixed with a little water.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes, until the center is slightly firm.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  8. Slice diagonally with a sharp knife to form biscotti.
  9. Allow to cool completely before serving.
