Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar with diced apples; let stand until sugar is dissolved. Add beaten egg and beat well.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into apple mixture.
  3. Add chopped nuts last.
  4. Pour batter into an 8-inch square pan.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 40 minutes.
  6. Serve warm with sauce.
