Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups peeled apples, chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and 2 cups of sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Gradually beat the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  6. Alternate adding the dry mixture and sour cream to the batter, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  7. Beat in vanilla extract.
  8. Stir chopped apples and the remaining sugar with cinnamon; fold into the batter.
  9. Spoon half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Add the nut topping mixture over the batter.
  11. Top with the remaining batter.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
